Anime Girl
For this project I wanted to do an art study of an anime girl image i'd found online. I did my own take on it with the background and color scheme as well as the shading. For the character design I used a two tone color design for most sections with shadows and highlights on top to give it more depth. I played around with highlights on her hair to match the ellipse in the background, but kept her eyes close to the original color. For the background I went with an ellipse and used a grunge, charcoal, lightwork, and wet brush to create textures and shadows surrounding the character.
Princess Mononoke
For this project I wanted to recreate Mononoke since I'm a big Miyazaki fan. For the character design I went with a 2 tone color for most of the design since his illustrations tend to look more along these lines. For the background I tried to play around with a 2 tone gradient that blended into fire using several different brushes to achieve this look. Overall this piece turned out nicely, I'd like to do more of his designs in the future.
Sleepy Sun
For this project I wanted to replicate a sleepy sun tapestry I found online for a reference photo. I experimented with gradients and bright warm colors to give it a different feel than the original orange/yellow design. I like how this turned out, I really enjoy this style of line work and imagery.
Magic Potion
For this project I recreated a magic potion from an art tutorial Art By Flo. I experimented with different textures, brushes, and added some opaque highlights to give it a nice reflection. I tried to give it depth by adding the white center with the floating crystals above.
Gold Iris
For this project I wanted to create an Iris using basic shapes and painting techniques. I layered it and blended it to give it a nice rich amber consistency with a gold center. I added some flicker highlights to give it depth as well as a reflection in the top right.
